Dr. Brenda Wade

Brenda Wade, PhD is a holistic psychologist, an author of three books, a TV hostess of a nationally-syndicated show “Can This Marriage Be Saved?” and has been featured in Essence Magazine.  You may have also seen her on  Oprah, the Today Show, Good Morning America, and CNN.

She has also written the Foreword to The Logical Soul book and will be Michael Craig’s special guest on Logical Soul Talk, Tuesday, April 13th, starting at 6 pm ET on www.BlogTalkRadio.com.

Dr. Wade has some unique insights into how our emotional and mental “stuff” gets in the way of our relationships and finances.  Her books and work are all about transforming and expanding human and financial boundaries.  Love Lessons: A Guide to Transforming Relationships; What Mama Couldn’t Tell Us About Love; and Power Choices:  Seven Steps to Creating Wholeness, Joy, Love and Peace all speak of ways to find – and hold on to – happiness.

Brenda has also been instrumental in getting together some of the finest talent in America to speak and present cutting edge ideas in her upcoming Love and Money Summit in September.  First held in Savannah, Georgia in 2009, this year’s event should be even more popular and transformative.

Tune in on Tuesday to hear this powerful speaker and author share her story and insights.

Self Discovery Vs. Diagnosis

Posted by: | Comments (0)

VetruvianManWhat’s the difference between actual self discovery process, and the diagnosis and treatment of mental disease?  I just witnessed this contrast firsthand . . .

Today I had a Logical Soul(tm) session with a person named Mark who has been a lifelong sufferer of anxiety and depression.  Mark has been treated, in his own words, “by the best psychologists in the world”  and was skeptical that anything could be done to help him . . . at least for the first part of the session.

During the second part of the hour, Mark experienced a shift that left him exhasted, but changed.  He reported amazing things that I will let him tell in a future blog.   The good news is that Mark’s session was put on video, and will be available to view by members in the foreseable future.  Stay tuned.

Also, Ilania Hofler took a voice print, both before and after his session, and showed that the changes made – as illustrated on the computer readout – were quite remarkable.

I make no claims that the Logical Soul(tm) takes the place of traditional psychotherapy.  It does, however, present a totally new paradigm previously unknown in the field of mental health.  Mark reported that his traditional therapists did not delve into ancestry or his relationships with ancestors.  They only wanted to diagnose, then treat him with medication.

Diagnosis certainly has its place.  But imagine what could happen when psychologists begin to embrace the tools offered by this simple technique . . . a way to unlock the transformation process, not merely “fix” someone so their illness can be managed.

I look forward to working with doctors and therapists who express a genuine desire to see their work take on new meaning . . . for themselves as well as for their patients!

Ilania Hofler

Ilania Hofler

I just had a 2-hour session this morning with Ilania Hofler (picture, left) in nearby Smyrna, Georgia. She has a method she uses called “Genetic Voice Printing” that uses a computer and biofeedback tools, and has been facilitating this work for the past 6 years as a powerful tool for self-discovery.

This work, she claimed, was designed to eliminate destructive patterns and behaviors . . . and seemed to work with me!

I discovered some things I already knew through doing the Logical Soul(tm) work, but this method was apparently able to neutralize some erratic brain waves and settle me down.  Afterward and throughout the day I felt rather subdued, but alive and clear.  My wife told me I never sounded clearer!

I also did some work with Ilania that accessed some of her deeper hidden decisions that the machine could not address since it requires a more conscious-subconscious connection.

Her therapy is based on the principle that destructive patterns & negative behaviors can be altered using sound and light therapy.  Brain waves and  deep physiological nerve patterns are changed, altering the person’s outward perception and results.

We both agreed to see how our methods could help one another.  We then scheduled to work on one of her new patients on Monday.  From what Ilania told me, I gather that this fellow was informed by a professor in the Harvard Psychology Department that he has unalterable genetic patterns and little can be done for him.

We’ll find out Monday and report.  Stay tuned!

Can we actually use technology to measure our level of self-discovery?? The answer is not simple, but let’s give it a go . . . .

First, let’s consider cultural self-discovery:

For the past 150 years, for example, the rate of human cultural evolution has been growing arithmetically in the West, or about 300%.  Slavery and child labor laws were abolished, Women won the right to vote, The Civil Rights Act was past and adopted, and  gays and other minorities gained standings in society.

On the negative side, however, we in the west have lost much of our general politeness, civility, and  satisfaction with more basic things.   I remember the summers in Savannah gathered with my family around the ice cream churn after an outdoor picnic, waiting for the homemade stuff to ice up!  Now, a family sitting together for a meal is considered an oddity.  Gangsta Rap is King.

Now consider the rate of technological discoveries during these same 150 years.  Based on the shear number of inventions, this rate has grown exponentially – or about 30,000% – and has been practically doubling every 2 years!  Human wars created a hunger for more powerful weapons.  The growth of populations begged for greater sanitation, better means of travel, and more tools for rapid communication.   This need brought us trains, planes, automobiles, telegraphs, telephones, AC current, robotics, DVD’s, computers, the Internet, and the amazing inventions of Pranav Mistry.

But what about so-called “Individual self-discovery”??

This is a tricky one.  It seems as though individual evolution of consciousness is intimately linked to, and spurred by, human cultural changes, e.g., civil rights.  The introduction to the west by those who practice Hinduism, Buddhism and non-violent resistance eventually impacted the lives of millions.

From these simple introductions, the drive towards individual Self-discovery began in earnest.  Since the “individual” is paramount in the west, its glorification and expansion was inevitable, giving rise to what is now called the Human Potential movement. California became in the 1960’s – and still is – the mecca for most human potential folks, although adherents to all of these programs can be found anywhere in the world.

Group programs like EST (currently The Landmark Forum), Life Training, LRT, as well as various individual therapies like Re-Birthing, Primal, Hypnotherapy, TM, NLP, EFT, SOT, and other “alphabet soup” procedures . . . all were developed to “get in touch” with our mental-emotional blocks, release them, and allow our full potential to blossom.

But can a “marriage” between technology and self-discovery actually takes place in such a way to directly affect a person’s awareness and growth of happiness and consciousness?  This is the goal.  Otherwise, if it doesn’t make us happy, why do it?  Why create a Frankenstein monster??

Movies like The Matrix naturally give us the dark vision, i.e., the conflicting drama and choice between happiness and self-discovery. But is there another way?  I think so.  In fact, I believe that true self-discovery naturally leads to happiness, despite what most Hollywood movies may conjure up.

Muscle Testing

Muscle Testing

Technology, because it so rapidly advances, if harnessed to provide us with tools for consciousness, can lead to a Golden Age of Enlightenment, or some such thing.  The ability to rapidly and accurately navigate into our own psyches would provide humanity with a massive transformative tool.  A case in point?  The use of CVSA and Logical Soul(tm) together.

Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) can detect “lies” in a person’s voice, even over the phone.  This technology can be used in the to take the place of muscle testing to measure the effectiveness of Logical Soul(tm) sessions!  The ability to determine a “yes” and “no” response in the body and subconscious is the most fundamentally-important human potential tool there is.

The possibilities are staggering.  More about this vision in my next article…

Brigitte and Michael Craig

Brigitte and Michael Craig

I am interviewing myself as guest tonight on Logical Soul Talk at 6 pm. Why?  I think I have a few awesome secrets to share to help you “read” another person, whether they are your lover . . . or that neighbor of yours you can’t stand!

Understanding motives and behavior is the fist step towards knowing your place in the world and finding that happiness you’ve been missing.  Knowing your “place,” however, does NOT mean “giving in” or “submitting.”  It refers to a sense of belonging that all of us seek, but rarely take on.  Its a sense that, no matter what happens around us, I’m OK right here . . . content with being inside my own skin.

While happiness follows me these days, I made sure it never found me while growing up.  As a very awkward child, I could never have imagined myself being an elegant speaker or radio host.  In fact, as a child I was so physically and emotionally uncoordinated, I had difficulty forming complete sentences without lapsing into bodily jerks, silly sounds and sputtering.  I couldn’t look anyone in the eye, and remember thinking that no one wanted to hear anything I had to say!  Consequently, from an early age I learned the art of listening . . . and it served me well over the years.

Tonight on the show I’ll go into some of the beliefs and attitudes that brought me out of my own inner maze, and how you can develop some of these same inner skills needed to develop confidence as a good interviewer and speaker.  This information will certainly come in handy for your next job interview, negotiation, or argument with your spouse.

Call in tonight at (347) 843-4544 to enter the conversation!

PiggyBankI ran out of money this month. And last month.  And the one before that.  That’s really all I knew . . . until just yesterday when I sat down and actually did a budget.

What’s scary is how long I kept myself from knowing how much I actually owed on credit cards, lines of credit, and even how much I needed for basic monthly expenses that never change.  You see, I have this problem.  When money is coming in on a regular basis, I pay attention to the amounts, pay all the bills, and budget whatever I have for other things I want.

The problem arises when money is NOT coming in regularly.  Its at these times I tend to go unconscious. I stop entering stuff into the checkbook, and stop looking at the items on my credit card statement except for the minimum payment. My reasoning in the past has been – I’m going to borrow money to pay the bills – no matter what – so I’ll pay attention to the amounts when I have the money to pay them.  Tomorrow . . .

I also figured we would never starve because my wife has a good job.  And that’s true.  But the cost of my lack of consciousness has been huge. The conscious belief that “Universe will provide” suddenly clashed with some hidden decisions based on an inner feeling of lack and helplessness.

About a month ago, this Marley’s Ghost came back to haunt me big time.  The actual pain caught up to me when, after discussing the matter with my wife (who is very frugal and good with money, by the way) hit the ceiling.

I realized I had a problem, and promptly stopped.  Cold turkey.  No more credit cards.  I’m closing my line of credit and cutting up the cards.  I’m actually even writing down all my debts and expenses and working on a plan to PAY them!

With little money coming in, this is not easy.  But not knowing is deadly!!

My resolution is to do this budget thing the way I used to . . . with daily numbers, tracking expenses, using monthly budget envelopes for cash, cutting up the credit cards or LOC’s, and start tackling this mountain of debt.  For the latter, I’m focused on generating more income through my books and course, and with private sessions.

It will take time.  And dedication.  And the continued love and understanding of a fantastic mate.  And it WILL be done!

Michael Craig with Dr. Wade

Michael Craig with Dr. Wade

Dr. Brenda Wade has agreed to write the Foreword to the soon-to-be-published  The Logical Soul.

Dr. Wade is a clinical psychologist, a well-known television personality, and a popular public speaker who lectures widely across the country.  She is the relationship contributor for NBC’s Today Show, and heads up the Love and Money Summit that was first held in Savannah, Georgia last September.  I was one of the speakers at that event.

Dr. Wade reports that the Logical Soul™ sounds similar to some work she does, and wants to do a session soon, as well as write the Foreword. She also requested having me speak at some of her future workshops and seminars in California and elsewhere, and I readily agreed.

I also spoke with Brenda on the phone the day my Mom passed away, and she was very supportive and helpful in my time of sadness.  Its a great honor to know Dr. Wade, and I’m blessed to have her on our team!
